Unsilenced Majority Statement On The Judge Ordered Reinstatement of Suspended Virginia Gym Teacher
June 9, 2021
WASHINGTON – Ian Prior, spokesman and senior counsel of Unsilenced Majority, today released the following statement regarding the judge ordered reinstatement of Byron Tanner Cross, a Virginia gym teacher that was suspended after speaking out at a Leesburg Elementary school board meeting against a transgender policy that would allow biological boys to compete as girls.
“The Court’s decision sends an unequivocal message to public schools: stop your assault on the constitutional rights of teachers, students, and parents.
“The ability of teachers to exercise their First Amendment rights is paramount to parents being able to understand exactly what school bureaucrats and special interests are trying to implement in the classroom.
“Tanner never should have been placed on leave. Loudoun County Public Schools should consider going a day or two without making itself a national embarrassment.
“School districts across the country should take note of what happens when they try to silence those who stand up against woke indoctrination.”
Unsilenced Majority is a grassroots conservative advocacy organization opposed to cancel culture in all forms. We strongly believe that corporate censorship, thought-policing and politically motivated blacklists and boycotts are having a corrosive effect on our country and will ultimately lead to a less free world. We also believe that freedom of speech and diversity of thought are fundamental bedrocks of a free society and should always be protected and celebrated. The Unsilenced Majority speaks for an emboldened majority of Americans who recognize the imminent threat that cancel culture poses to our nation. The rising intolerance of cancel culture is breeding fear and paranoia in our politics, across the corporate world, at our children’s schools and even in our neighborhoods. It must be stopped. The Unsilenced Majority aims to harness grassroots opposition to fight back against cancel culture before it’s too late.
